SLOVAKIA

You are visitor number
Slovakia is mountainous land with picturesque valleys and streams. Once part of the Great Moravian, Holy Roman, and Austro-Hungarian Empires as well as Czechoslovakia, Slovakia is learning what it means to be independent. The birth of the Slovak Republic in 1993 has facilitated the transformation toward a modern market-oriented economy. Macroeconomic performance has improved steadily, but privatization progresses only in fits and starts.
